Thank you for visiting my site. I am a Pastoral Counselor with a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology and an undergraduate degree in Christian Ministry and Education. I am an ordained Christian minister and have been a counselor in many roles most of my adult life. First as a Pastor of Churches in the San Francisco Bay Area, then as a Program Director and Pastoral Counselor at Barnabas Counseling Center in San Mateo. I am now in private practice in San Carlos, CA at New Perspective Counseling.
I have received specialized training in marital enrichment and counseling from Dr. John Gottman, Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington, Dr. Michelle Baldwin of PAIRS International, and Dr. Scott Stanley (PREP) of the University of Denver.
I have served as an adjunct professor at Bethany University teaching psychology and spirituality as well as pastoral counseling.
My areas of special interest include premarital counseling, marriage enrichment, relationship counseling, recovery for adult survivors of childhood abuse, and guidance for personal and spiritual growth as people confront life issues.
Working with Couples
It has been my privilege to work with hundreds of couples. Some seeking skills and insights to prepare for a lasting and meaningful marriage. Some desiring to solve problems in their relationship or simply make a good marriage better; some attempting to re-build marriages torn apart by infidelity.
Working with Individuals
I also work with motivated individuals seeking recovery from childhood abuse, harmful past relationships or the challenges of divorce. Additionally, I work with individuals facing challenges like burn-out, anxiety or life transitions who desire to find healthy responses that encourage growth. I firmly believe that it is possible to move beyond the trauma of the past as well as the challenges of today and experience life that has joy and meaning.
I am married to Dannielle and have three adult children, two of whom are in the process of building their own marriages and families. In my marriage and family as well as my counseling practice I attempt to "practice what I preach!" I restore myself with long walks, an occasional fishing trip and spending time with people I love.
If you think I might be of assistance to you I would be happy to hear from you by either email or phone.
